Narendra Debnath (42) is a resident of Talertol village and is a very poor and daily wage worker. His family consists of six members. His mother’s road accident cost him a lot of money. As a result, it became difficult to earn a living. Narendra Debnath is a member of the Talertol Korotowa men’s group of the ERA CREA project. In the group meeting, he gained knowledge about climate change problems, climate smart agriculture, dowry, child marriage, etc. And he got the idea about the demonstration plot and expressed his interest in getting support for the demonstration plot from the project. FF explained the scope of the demonstration plot and asked to contact with DAE representatives. Narendra Debnath started cultivating ginger in the sack system and gourd in the loft system as suggested by DAE.
Narendra Debnath said, I attend 2-day long alternative crop and integrated farm management training in Palash Union through ERA CREA project. Trainer was SAAO Md. Alamin. Then I started cultivating ginger and gourd with BDT 8,000/- assistance from ERA CREA project. After a month, I started selling gourd and earning 1000-1200 taka on average per day. On the other hand, ginger is growing in 50 sacks and I hope to be able to sell ginger worth about BDT 5000/-. Now there is no problem in running the family. I am grateful to ERA CREA project for showing me a new way to earning and living.
UP Chairman Swapan Kumar Pal said, Narendra Debnath is very poor. I thank ERA CREA project for his livelihood. I appreciate ERA CREA project for the great work in my union.
