Through ERA CREA project, community members have found a safe water source.

There is plenty of water around the haor area, but there is a problem for clean water everywhere. Green Energy Operated Mini Water Supply has been established under the initiative of the ERA CREA project implemented in Bishwambharpur Upazila of Sunamganj district. 3 safe water sources have been established in the project area of the upazila. Where the people of the concerned villages used to fetch water from far away for safe water for daily use. This not only wasted time but also hindered their livelihood based on agricultural production. They had to collect water from far away, leaving the small children of the family behind. Teenage girls used to be subjected to eve-teasing when they went to collect water.

There is a water shortage everywhere in the work area as the water level drops during the dry season. In continuation of this, a green energy operated mini water supply was installed in ERA CREA project area with funding from the Swedish government to alleviate the water shortage. A committee was formed to maintain the mini pipeline. A total of 10 water points were installed in 3 unions from which a total of 182 families directly came under the purview of safe water. As a result, incidence of water-borne diseases has decreased and agriculture based family production has increased. Cost of installing the points was about six lakh BDT. Solar power is being used to lift water to main tank. Now school girls are able to go to school on time, clean water is being used for all household chores, especially teenage girls and women have been freed from water-borne diseases, and domestic violence has decreased
