The “Unnoti” project, implemented by Efforts for Rural Advancement (ERA) in Derai Upazila under Sunamganj district, was part of the Economic Empowerment of the Poorest (EEP)/SHIREE program—a joint initiative by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Government of Bangladesh. Running from July 2014 to August 2016, Unnoti aimed to uplift extremely poor households by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities. The project focused on asset transfers, skills development, and market linkages to enhance income-generating activities. Additionally, it emphasized community engagement and empowerment, ensuring that beneficiaries had a voice in decision-making processes. By addressing the multifaceted challenges of extreme poverty, Unnoti contributed to the broader goal of EEP/SHIREE to lift one million people out of extreme poverty by 2015.
